Be Water Aware

Be Water Aware is the National Fire Chiefs Council’s national campaign and encourages people to spend time in and around water safely to reduce the risk of accidental drowning.

Be Water Aware runs a dedicated campaign week in April, but the messaging can be used throughout the year. The week is timed to coincide when drownings and water rescue emergency service calls increase as the weather improves.

The campaign primarily targets those undertaking recreational activities in and around the water encouraging them to be aware of the risks, how to stay safe and what to do if there is an emergency.

The campaign is supported by UK fire and rescue services and partners and more information can be found on NFCC’s website.
